Questions & Answers
Everyone has questions. Tell us yours.
Q:
I would like to use Perma-TWILL® for cheerleading uniforms. We will need two-color lettering cut and shipped. Is this an option that you offer?
A:
SimStitch® Any Word. Any Way.™ is available in 1, 2, or 3 colors and can be ordered as a size small, which has a 2 inch capital height and a total width of up to 9.5 inches. A custom width can be requested if the amount of characters in the word is not excessive.
Q:
What is the difference between Perma-TWILL® and Poly-TWILL™?
A:
Perma-TWILL has an adhesive that forms a permanent bond to the fabric once it is heat applied, so there is no need to sew it. The adhesive on Poly-TWILL is used for tacking purposes only. It must be sewn to secure the design to the fabric.
Q:
Why is a cover sheet necessary?
A:
A cover sheet not only protects your garment, it also protects your upper platen from stains, inks, adhesives, and scratches.
Q:
Is it important to use the correct pressure when applying designs to garments?
A:
The key to proper application is the correct time, temperature and pressure for the material you are heat applying. If you have too much pressure it may result in strikethrough. Not enough pressure may affect the material's adhesion.
Q:
Can I use a household iron to apply Stahls' products?
A:
We do not recommend applying any of Stahls' products with a household hand iron. We suggest using a heat press with adjustable pressure settings.
Q:
Why is it necessary to pre-heat a garment before heat applying?
A:
Pre-heating your garment removes the chemicals and moisture that may be in the garment due to manufacturing. Also, pre-heating assures a wrinkle free surface for heat application.
