Vinyl Cutters

What is a vinyl cutter?

Vinyl cutters are a versatile piece of equipment for apparel decorators who want to produce heat transfer graphics in-house. Using a small blade, these machines precisely cut designs, letters, names, numbers, and shapes from heat transfer vinyl (HTV) or adhesive vinyl.

They make it easy to create one-off designs or run a print-on-demand model without relying on ordering transfers. After cutting, the excess material is removed in a process called weeding, leaving only your design on the carrier, ready for application.

Buyer Consideration List

Before making your purchase, consider the following factors to ensure you choose the right machine for your business:
  • Production Volume: Are you creating small batches or running daily production? Higher-volume shops need faster, more durable cutters.
  • Cutting Width & Size: Choose a cutter that matches the size of designs you plan to produce. Larger cutters allow for oversized graphics and better efficiency.
  • Software Compatibility: Make sure the cutter works with your preferred design software for a smoother workflow.
  • Ease of Use: If you’re new to vinyl cutting, look for models designed with beginners in mind. Setting up artwork for cutting can be complex, so consider how intuitive the software and overall process will be.
