I would encourage anyone new to vinyl cutting, to read the instructions thoroughly and watch the tutorial videos that Stahls' puts online.

Good Product But Hard to See Cut Lines
Reviewed by Klim Chuplygin 9/16/2017 11:14:11 AM

I'll start off with the good. The material is very thin and extremely light hand, cuts and weeds easily enough but I've found one major flaw that will prevent me from using this: it's the fact that on most colors I've used it's very hard to see the cut lines after the plotter is done cutting and it's time to weed. I have perfect eyesight and it was a pain weeding smaller designs on white color because I couldn't see the outlines of the graphics I was weeding. Going back to Siser easyweed stretch.

Just recently (2 months) started using vinyl on different types of shirts (mixes with polyviscose, rayon, spandex) and after trying out different brands and other cadcut vinyls, this is pretty much what we use for most. Good stretch and nice to be able to press at low temps to prevent scorching. Ease of weeding is pretty good in comparison to the Fashion Film and others but not as easy as something like quickflex. Haven't had any problems with adhesion; for those with issues I would say check your process, especially pressure settings.

Biggest disappointment did come from Stahls support they never responded to my calls and emails. Even I did send to some of their technicians pictures and nothing was done.  Cuts and weeds great, has some washing issues.
Reviewed by Lee 8/26/2016 11:18:41 AM

I wish I could post pictures of things I have cut with this as reading some of these reviews does not do it justice. If you can set your cutter properly, use sharp blades and the main thing always, have good artwork, this stuff cuts fine detail beautifully. I just recently did some shirts for a friend that had a guitar on it and was able to get all the detail of the fret board with some of the pieces being less than 1/32 of an inch. The problem is not with the vinyl in that regards. It does have a tendency to stretch while your weeding it, but that is the entire reason to use Premium Plus is the rebound so you have to let it slide. Try Fashion Film if you don't need the rebound. My only gripe with the material is it doesn't hold as well as I would like to 100% Polyester. If the Polyester stretches, a lot of times the material can't stretch that far and it end up starting to peel. I have had no issues on 50/50 and 100% cotton however.

Not my favorite product to cut/weed. Some colors cut better than others which is super frustrating. Best is is on 100% polyester moisture wicking fabrics ONLY. On regular cotton, or cotton blend products its terrible !. After a few washes (cold with no dryer) it starts to buckle/wrinkle & lift. Did an awesome hoodie for my daughter (thank goodness it was her hoodie), and it started to lift after a couple of washes. I washed in it cold water, no fabric softener and hang to dry. Very disappointed as the material/fabric combo chart says its good to use on cotton and cotton blends.

At first I was peeling when it was still warm. The artwork did not stick in most areas. So I had to re-press several times and even up my heat by +5 degrees. I waited until the heat pressed design was cold and then peeled. It was much better, but definitely not a quick peel. You still had to be very careful when peeling. I had to re-press with carrier sheet off, using kraft paper. My other problem is once it did stick to the shirt, after washing and drying on low heat, parts of the design peeled off. I have printed with fashion film and with thermo film, thermo grip, and did not have this problem. Never using Premium Plus on cotton again.

Horrible to cut, Great to weed

I suppose since I have an older cutter (Ioline 100) that is why I have so much trouble cutting this material? Everytime I use it there are multiple tries needed to get it right, and a waste of material. I've finally discovered I need to leave a 2" border to (hopefully) not have it wrinkle and jam up. It's constantly getting caught in the blade even then. And only coming in 20" rolls? More waste of material. Once it does finally cut properly it really is a dream to weed (even small letters) and it lays flat and thin on garment. That's the only plus. Trying to get it to adhere and stay put on garment is difficult. I will only use this material if I absolutely have to, and will more than likely not order again. Or have to raise my prices significantly.

I even tryed it on fleece material which i wouldnt recommend but if you hit it a couple times on the press it finally holds. But they dont recommend fleece material in their chart for things it can go on anyways that was just out of my curiousity. YOU DONT NEED THE SPECIAL BLADE EITHER! I use just a mh871 - mk2 us cutter with a 45 degree blade. It does take about 15 minutes of test cutting to figure out the DF and Speed and then after that works like a dream! Easy to weed and apply. I use just an xacto knife and it works great i have weeders too but prefer my xacto knives. If this helps, All the colors are all cut at the same speed and down force, Except White Silver and Gold and the Neons just increase the downforce a hair up and everything should be smooth for ya. We limited ours to letters that were about 1/2" and had to be careful when weeding. 1" letters or larger would be much easier. But we have a lot of practice in cutting sign graphics, so we know that less than 1/2" letters are difficult under the best circumstances. If your cutter is not set up right, you will struggle.

Product looks/feels great when cut correctly 2. Less detail in your design the better you will be. 3. If you are cutting Times font make sure to beef it up a few points or any thin font for that matter. 3. Try to stay away from sharp edges, round them off if you have too. You will notice a big difference when cutting/weeding. 4. Brand new blade works best but you guys already knew that. 5. A stickier carrier would maybe better. I bought 3 rolls of premium plus and i later seen reviewed saying that it was horrible to weed and difficult to weed.I have a cheap vinyl cutter and i cut out a few dozen designs and it weeded perfectly. All i did was perform a few test cuts and adjusted my down force accordingly until it was perfect.

great hand but TERRIBLE TO WEED!!!!

This is the hardest heat transfer material to weed I have used. Be careful when purchasing this product. The finish on the garment is excellent. I just wish they would make some tackier backing to eliminate design damage during weeding. It might be OK on a Roland plotter but I have not made the big purchase yet. I might send all 6 of my rolls back actually?

feels great, but thats about it

This is a really great product if you're looking for an extremely light feel on a t shirt, but be prepared to cut a design a couple of times because this stuff sucks to weed and black seems to be even worse. I have bought the carbide blades that are recommended and they do worse than a cheap blade when trying to cut this stuff in my opinion. Carrier needs to have a little bit of tackiness just to help hold the vinyl still while cutting so the corners can actually get cut all the way.

Great on cottons, not so much on polys
Reviewed by Dennis 11/18/2012 5:55:17 PM

I haven't cut very fine details, but have never had the problems I read here. Works/feels great on cotton/poly tees, but DO NOT use on 100% polyester stuff. It peeled right off after 1-2 washes.

Played with the setting and total waste of time. Can't believe they sell this stuff and called it Premium Plus. When I rent a car and I get a Premium vehicle, I expect a much better than compact! What a joke.

Great color, great feel Nightmare to weed

When I first heard of this product I was very excited and ordered several rools due to the promotional video on youtube. the color of the product is very vivid and the feel and streach of the final product is great you can hardly tell it is there, the problem is that when cutting the film my cutter would catch on the film and cut in dotted lines or leave areas still attached. also do to the low tack carrier if you make a mistake you cannot replace the vinyl. This product works great if you are doing large designs but for anything detailed this is not the film you want.

 This product is just OK

I ordered this product to use on a basic three letter t-shirt project. because of the product description thought it would be simple and easy, but I found it to be the opposite. The cut lines are BARELY visible and weeding 3 letters is almost a nightmare. After stretching some areas to get them weeded out the letter no longer sticks to the carrier and curls up.... Aside of that the feel of the finish after applied deserves 5 STARS. I feel with a few tweaks to the carrier the product will be much better!

 Not so tough!
Reviewed by Chris Noble 5/28/2012 3:44:00 PM

I've read the reviews and after getting some sample material some of the complaints are justified ( the carrier needs more tack for sure), but I found a way to work with it. First things first, ignore the procedures called for by Stahls, I'm using a Roland GX-24 with a 45° blade and found that if I extend the blade to the lowest amount possible it helps a great deal. This stuff isn't very thick (Forget the 1 mm setting in the Roland manual, you're just asking for trouble) seriously I can barely see the tip of the blade protruding from the blade holder. Now for the force, I set mine between 140-200! forget the wimpy settings, make it scream! LOL Next I slow it down, Speed is set to 20 cm. I also increased my offset to .300. I cut some fairly detailed designs and found this to work well. So don't be too hard on this product it can be done, it has a nice feel and the price is nice.

 Very disappointed

This sounded like such a great product, so I bought a bunch. Mistake! It cuts more like perforations for some reason so it just rips when I try to weed it. I've tried everything to get it to work. I was able to cut one large graphic and I liked the feel of it, but not sure I liked the matte look - in the black color anyway. Bottom line, I won't be buying Premium Plus again. I love all the other Stahls' products so there's lots more for me to choose from.

 difficult to weed
Reviewed by becky nelms 4/5/2012 10:54:36 AM

I will never buy this product again unless it is pre cut and weeded. Yes, the final product could be great if you can actually get it weeded without damaging the product. Everything was done per specifications and everything pulled and stretched when trying to weed. Doesn't matter end result of texture if you can't weed it.

 Premium Plus

Best material I have ever used. I was a big user of Thermal Film but have since converted to Premium Plus. Easy to cut, great price, easy to weed, great feel on garment and very thin make it the best material Stahls has to offer.

Carrier is not tacky enough maybe if the carrier was a little thicker it would help from sliding off or bending. Its hard to cut small letters even if i go slow is still cant figure out. I really like the feel i wish they can fix this issues.

Carrier need to be more tacky!

I really like this product a lot..but when I wanna do fine details I can't because the carrier isn't tacky like the Fashion-Film..which the carrier should be like Fashion-Film carrier..if it was then no doubt this will be the best product ever...but I love the feel of this better then Fashion-Film.

Don't Bother unless you're using it for Numbering

Cutting and Weeding a nightmare don't bother unless you're using it for numbering or large block lettering other than that use a different product. End result feels great.

Great "feel" but weeding can be difficult.
Reviewed by Glen Sutton 8/3/2011 4:07:37 PM

My customers, family, and myself love the feel of this material. However, I have moments where weeding has been way too difficult. Small lettering at times lifts completely off and will not stay back on the carrier. We have to know the limitations of this material and the ebst setting with our cutter. Also I have some problems with the material getting bunched up in my cutter but have worked that out after several adjustments. There are various variables in order to get good cuts and weeding. I have a GCC Expert 24 and found that about a 70 on downforce, 30 speed, and blade assembly set to the lowest set to number 1, and making sure the rollers are far enough in so that the material doesn't bunch and crinkle. After adjusting it works pretty good but nothing I don't think is going to be fool proof with it. I think the biggest thing they could do is make the carrier a bit more sticky. If one eliminates small lettering and intricate design then this material works pretty well.

 Tricky Cutting
Reviewed by Jerry 8/2/2011 1:11:21 PM

Great end results. Nice feel and applies well. Rubberiness of product seems to make cutting a bit difficult and since the carry sheet isn't tacky it pulls in some spots without cutting and makes weeding a bit difficult. Especially of finer detail. Still experimenting to find the right cutting pressure and depth since I don't have a Roland.
