Questions & Answers
Everyone has questions. Tell us yours.
Q:
Can I use different sizes of the same design to meet my $25.00 minimum?
A:
The $25.00 minimum order is per design and material.
Q:
Is there a minimum order for CAD-PRINTZ®?
A:
For CAD-PRINTZ there is a $25.00 minimum order per design.
Q:
What are vector images?
A:
Vector images are cuttable and can be resized to any dimension without losing quality.
Q:
What is a contour?
A:
Essentially, a contour is an outline that is added to a logo. Generally these are added to allow us to cut and weed a logo.
Q:
What are bitmap images?
A:
A bitmap is a type of graphic composed of pixels (picture elements) in a grid. Each pixel or "bit" contains color information for the image. Bitmap graphic formats have a fixed resolution which means that resizing a bitmap graphic can result in distortion and jagged edges.
Q:
What are some common bitmap formats?
A:
They include: GIF, JPG or JPEG, TIFF, PNG, PICT, PCX, and BMP. Photo-editors or image-editing graphics software, such as Adobe® Photoshop® and Corel® Photo-Paint, are designed for creating and editing bitmap graphics.
Q:
I recently purchased a garment decoration business. Can I use artwork purchased by the previous owner?
A:
A letter of authorization from the previous owner giving you permission to use previously purchased artwork would be needed.
Q:
If I send you a copyrighted or trademarked logo, can you cut it for me?
A:
The unauthorized use of registered trademarks and copyrighted logos or designs is illegal. When creating a product which incorporates these logos, we do reserve the right to ask for written permisson.
Q:
Why does the price of my logos change when I reorder?
A:
Pricing is based on the quantity, size, and media used. Should any of these variables change, your price can also change.
Q:
Why do I need a border/contour on my digital design?
A:
In order to meet our cutting specifications and not cut into your design, sometimes we have to place a contour color/border around your design. If there are small details that would be very difficult to weed, or the outer color is not consistent, a contour may be needed. We will automatically add a contour cut line to your design. You have the option of selecting a white outline or a custom color from our digital color palette. It is recommended to choose an outline color that matches the product which you are applying your digital design; therefore the outline is less apparent.
Q:
What is RGB?
A:
RGB Stands for Red, Green, Blue and is used primarily for electronic-sourced devices such as televisions and monitors.
Q:
What is CMYK?
A:
CMYK Stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key Black. CMYK is used for color printing and each letter represents the color of ink being used.
Q:
What happens if a file is printed without converting to CMYK?
A:
If RGB files are used for printing, the printing software converts the file to CMYK. The representation is usually inaccurate and specific colors may change.
Q:
How do I determine if a file is RGB or CMYK using CorelDraw® ?
A:
1) Choose the Eyedropper tool from the “Tool Box” 2) Left click on the logo
3) A reading should come up within the color fill indicator. This should specify if the file is RGB or CMYK.
Q:
Why was I charged additional fees for CAD-PRINTZ®?
A:
Pricing is based on useable artwork. Minimal art modifications are included. Orders requiring art modifications will incur additional fees.
Q:
What type of file can I use for my digital order?
A:
The following file types are supported:
.bmp, .gif, .jpg, .png, .cdr, .ai, .eps, .ps, .pdf
Q:
How can I ensure a specific color on my digital transfer?
A:
All monitors are calibrated differently, therefore the color shown on your monitor may not accurately depict the color of your finished product. We can target specific Pantone® colors if needed. We use a CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) printing process; conversions from the RGB and color palettes can result in perceptible color variation. Color changes cannot be made to jpeg or bitmap images, making them susceptible to color change when printing.
