Adhesive - This layer is applied to the CAD-CUT® material during the manufacturing process so it adheres to the final substrate (or garment). The type of adhesive layer determines what the combined product will stick to and the durability of the applied product.
Appliqué - The process of replacing fill stitches with material to lower the stitch count of an embroidered design.
Appliqué Fabrics - Any fabric used to replace fill stitches on an embroidered design. Ideal for adding excitement to embroidered designs. Edges of fabrics need to be covered with zigzag, satin, or straight embroidery stitches.
CAD - An acronym for Computer Aided Design.
CAD-CUT® - A registered trademark of Stahls' ID Direct™, Inventors of CAD-CUT® Technology. The addition of a thermo-plastic carrier onto the most popular materials from Stahls' ID Direct™ that allows them to be cut on computerized cutters.
CAD-CUT® Materials - Heat transfer material exclusively branded by Stahls'. Available in roll form with thermo-plastic backing for use in cutters/plotters.
Cap Platens – Interchangeable platens for use with the Hotronix® Cap Press to aid layout of different sized caps. Four sizes available including: All Star for low profile caps, Slugger for full crown ball caps, Champ for oversized caps, and Rookie for low crown caps.
Carrier Sheet – Clear thermo-plastic backing on CAD-CUT® materials.
Cold Peel – Removal of the carrier sheet from the graphic after application, carrier sheet should be completely cold.
Computerized Cutter - Cutters were originally used in the sign and decal markets for making lettering for banners, awnings, doors, and cars. Stahls' has adapted this blade technology to allow retailers to cut the same logos and lettering out of our heat-applied materials (a.k.a. CAD-CUT® materials) for application onto garments, caps, bags, and more.
Cover Sheets – An accessory that can be used during the heat application process to provide alternative finishes on the surface of the lettering or graphic. Also used to protect the upper platen and avoid direct contact with the graphics during the heat application process.
Custom Cut - Using Stahls' cutting techniques to create designs, logos or lettering according to the customer's specifications or per their artwork.
Custom Made Easy - A simple method of making a custom design by choosing from a variety of lettering styles and layout options.
Digital Transfers - Full color printing onto a digital media that is contour cut for heat application onto light or dark garments and performance wear.
Direct Embroidery - Full stitch designs or lettering on a substrate (garment, hat, bag, etc.).
ECONOPRINT™ - An inexpensive alternative to Thermo-FILM®. ECONOPRINT™ is available in CAD-CUT® yardage and Player Names only. No sewing necessary.
EZ Weeder® – Handy pick tool with a rubber grip assists in easily weeding CAD-CUT®, CAD-COLOR ®and other pressure sensitive vinyl graphics.
Felt - A thick material made of wool and rayon fibers pressed together, a classic look that's durable and washable. Needs to be sewn to garment with either a straight, zigzag or satin stitch.
Flexible Application Pad – Thin silicon rubber pad that can be used in place of a cover sheet when applying Thermo-GRIP® and GORILLA-GRIP II® to nylon fabrics. Flexible application pads create a strong bond with nylon fabric.
Gorilla-GRIP® - A product with an adhesive specially designed for hard-to-adhere to fabrics like woven nylons. No sewing necessary.
Heat Applied Embroidered Appliqué - A design or lettering pre-sewn onto a backing, with a thermal adhesive, for heat application.
Heat Applied Letters and Numbers - Letters and numbers with a thermal adhesive for heat application. Mostly used in sports to identify the players or for personalization in non-sporting events.
Heat Eraser – Small 2" x 5" wool eraser ideal for cooling letters or graphics before removing the cover sheet.
Heat Press - A sophisticated iron/pressing machine that uses heat for imprinting. These machines have adjustments for time, temperature and pressure that is required for the best adhesion of today's heat applied materials/graphics.
Heat Press Test Kit – Temperature strips kit designed to check accuracy of temperature on heat press.
Heat Printing - A garment decorating method in which one applies a heat transfer product onto a garment using a heat press.
Heat Transfer - Screen printing inks on a special release paper, for heat application onto garments. The look and feel of screen printing - without the hassles.
Hot Peel – Removal of the carrier or cover sheet immediately after heat application, prior to the cover sheet cooling down.
Interchangeable Garment Platens – Various sized and shaped platens for use with Hotronix® Swinger, Draw, Air Swinger and Clam machines. Simply remove your regular size platen and replace with the appropriate platen for your garment for layout. Sizes include: Bagger Round for gym bags, Tote Master Rectangle for tote bags, Shortstop Rectangle.
Ioline™ 100 1045 blade – 45 degree replacement blade for the Ioline™ 100 cutter. 45 degree good all purpose blade use to cut CAD-CUT® Thermo-FILM®, CAD-CUT® Thermo-GRIP®, CAD-CUT® GORILLA GRIP® II, CAD-CUT® ECONOPRINT™etc. Blades can be purchased in packs of 5.
Ioline™ 100 1060 blade – 60 degree replacement blade for the Ioline™ 100 cutter. 60 degree blades are for use with thicker materials. Blades can be purchased in packs of 5.
Ioline™ 100 Blade Holder – Replacement blade holder for the Ioline™ 100.
Ioline™ 100 Cutting Strip – Replacement cutting strip for Ioline™ 100. Kit includes enough material for 2 cutting strips, 2-sided adhesive and instructions.
Ioline™ 100 Floor Stand – Replace the Ioline™ 100 standard legs with this floor stand to free up counter space. Stand includes media rollers for easy loading and unloading of materials.
Ioline™ 300 321 Blade – 30 degree replacement blade for the Ioline™ 300 cutter. 30 degree blades should be used for thin, frayable materials. Good for Poly-TWILL™ and CAD-CUT® materials. Blades can be purchased in packs of 5.
Ioline™ 300 322 Blade – 45 degree replacement blade for Ioline™ 300 cutter. 45 degree blades should be used for thicker materials such Wool felt. Blades can be purchased in packs of 5.
Ioline™ 300 Blade Holder - Replacement blade holder for the Ioline™ 300.
Ioline™ 300 Heavy Tack Adhesive Sheets – Heavy tack adhesive sheets for Ioline™ 300. Heavy tack adhesive sheets are good for use with fabrics. Such as Poly-TWILL™, Wool and Acrylic Felt etc. Not recommended for use with CAD-CUT® materials. Size is 18 x 30 and sold in packs of 3.
Ioline™ 300 Medium Tack Adhesive Sheets – Medium tack adhesive sheets for Ioline™ 300. Medium tack adhesive sheets are good for all purpose cutting. Good for cutting fabrics as well as CAD-CUT® materials. Not recommended for use with Pressure Sensitive Poly-TWILL™, Vinyl, Pressure-Sensitive Sign Vinyl or any other materials with paper or light liners. Size is 18 x 30 and sold in packs of 3.
Ioline™ 300 Removeable Tray – Replacement tray for Ioline™ 300. Great idea to have 2 trays per cutter. Have your material loaded and ready to go, place the new tray in the cutter and cut your design while you weed your other work. This will help speed up your production.
Ioline™ 300 Ultra Low Tack Adhesive Sheets – Ultra Low Tack Adhesive sheets for Ioline™ 300. Ultra low tack adhesive sheets are good for use with paper or light lined materials such as Pressure-Sensitive Sign Vinyl, Pressure- Sensitive Poly-TWILL™ and Vinyl. Not recommended for use with fabrics. Size is 18 x 30 and sold in packs of 3.
Ioline™ Appli-K/200 Adhesive Sheets – All purpose adhesive sheets for the Ioline™ Appli-K/200 cutter. Adhesive sheets are placed on the material tray in order to secure the material during the cutting process. Adhesive sheets can be purchased in packs of 3.
Ioline™ Appli-K/200 Blades – Replacement blades for the Ioline™ Appli-K/200 cutter. Blades can be purchased in packs of 5.
Kiss Cut - Process that creates multi-layered graphics for single-step, no sew or time saving stitched applications. Shortens production time up to 40%.
Kraft Paper – Cover sheet for protecting garments and transfers during heat application. Provides a matte finish and is recommended for use with all CAD-CUT® material applications.
Layout Boards – Arched cardboard templates used to align individual letters and graphics on garments.
Lettering Remover Solvent – Liquid lettering remove for use with Thermo-FILM®, Thermo-FLOCK® and Thermo-GRIP®. Must be used within 48 hours of initial application.
Lite-Tack Spray – Clear, low tack adhesive spray that aids in the layout of appliqué lettering or positioning multiple color applications for embroidery. Spray will not gum up embroidery needles.
Matte Finish – The smooth, dull appearance on the surface of materials after heat application. Non-glossy.
Metallic Resin Ribbons - Resin ribbons for use with the PC60 can be used to print onto CAD-COLOR® Thermo-Film II and CAD-COLOR® Advantage. Available in Metallic Silver and Metallic Gold. (premium price)
Player Perfect™ - A player name and a number pre-positioned on a carrier, ready to be heat applied onto the back of a sports jersey.
Poly-TWILL™ - The twill weave, versatility, durability and high quality make this 100% polyester material ideal for adding value to any garment. Used on professional athletic wear. Needs to be sewn to garment with a zigzag, satin or straight stitch.
Poly Urethane – A unique material that offers the elasticity of rubber. Urethanes offer superior impact resistance, while offering excellent wear properties and elastic memory.
Poly Vinyl Chloride – Common plastic polymer
Pre Cut - Standard styles and sizes of letters and numbers that are stamped or cut out of material.
Pre-Mask Tape – Low tack masking tape ideal for use with lettering on caps and working with small letters, it can also use as a mask for your pressure sensitive sign vinyl.
Pressure – The amount of leverage or force needed for the heat application process. Typically referred to as "light", "medium" or "heavy".
Pre-Spaced Player Name - A player name pre-positioned on a carrier, ready to be heat applied.
Print Perfect Pads – Thin rubber material designed to elevate your print area while providing a solid surface for even pressure. Ideal for working around buttons, zippers and seams. Available in four sizes including: 5" x 6" for shorts and shoulders, 3 1/2" x 15" for sleeves and legs, name bar areas, and 8" x 10" for tote or duffel bags.
Pro-Cap - Script and block style embroidered letters and numbers with a thermal adhesive backing. Popular when used as single letters for baseball caps.
Quick Slip Pad Protector – A fitted Teflon® cover that slips snugly over the bottom platen of the heat press making it easy to slide garments on and off. It also reduces wear and tear. Essential for proper adhesive flow.
Roland® 45 Degree Blade – Replacement blades for most Roland® models. 45 degree good all purpose blade use to cut CAD-CUT® Thermo-FILM®, CAD-CUT® Thermo-GRIP®, CAD-CUT® GORILLA GRIP® II, CAD-CUT® ECONOPRINT™etc. Blades can be purchased as a single unit or in 5 packs.
Roland® 60 Degree Blade – Replacement blades for most Roland® models. 60 degree good for more detailed work use to cut CAD-CUT® Thermo-FILM®, CAD-CUT® Thermo-GRIP®, CAD-CUT® GORILLA GRIP® II, CAD-CUT® ECONOPRINT™etc. Blades can be purchased as a single unit or in 5 packs.
Roland® Flock Blade – Replacement blades for most Roland® models. Recommended for cutting CAD-CUT® Thermo-FLOCK®, has a hook shaped blade to cut through fibers. Blades can be purchased as a single unit or in 5 packs.
Roland® Twill Blade - Replacement blades for most Roland® models. Recommended for cutting Poly-TWILL™ or Pressure Sensitive Poly-TWILL™, special design aids in cutting fabrics. Blades can be purchased as a single unit or in 5 packs. Note: Not all Roland® models are capable of cutting Poly-TWILL™ materials.
Sign Cutter (Plotter) – A computer-driven piece of equipment designed to cut vinyl for signs or heat transfer material for textiles.
SimStitch® - Poly-TWILL™ letters and numbers with a sewn appearance and a permanent adhesive backing. This product eliminates the need to use your sewing machine.
Single Color Resin Ribbons – Resin ribbons for use with the PC60 can be used to print onto CAD-COLOR® Thermo-Film II and CAD-COLOR® Advantage. Available in Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
Single Color Wax Ribbons – Wax ribbons for use with the PC60 can be used to print onto Fabric Transfer paper. Available in Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
Software (graphics) – A computer program used to create graphic art designs for cutting.
Solutions™ AirTech™ - Airtech™ is the sister product to Solutions Clear. They have the exact same properties; however, AirTech™ is able to clear the holes in a mesh garment. AirTech™ applies to 100% cotton, 100% polyester, poly/cotton blends, Lycra®/spandex, woven and knit nylons, mesh and fleece. It is recommended for white or light colored fabrics only.
Solutions™ Clear - very thin, heat-applied product that can accept solvent, eco-solvent or resin based inks. It applies to 100% cotton, 100% polyester, poly/cotton blends, Lycra®/spandex, woven and knit nylons, mesh and fleece. It is recommended for white or light colored fabrics only.
Solutions™ Metallic - gives you the ability to create full color, heat-applied metallic images with brilliant shine and reflective properties. It applies to 100% cotton, 100% polyester, poly/cotton blends, Lycra®/spandex, woven and knit nylons, mesh and fleece.
Solutions™ Opaque - Heat-applied product that features amazing stretch and rebound properties. It will not crack or peel and works well on both dark and light colored garments. It applies to 100% cotton, 100% polyester, poly/cotton blends, Lycra®/spandex, woven and knit nylons, mesh and fleece.
Solutions™ Sub Block - Sub Block is a heat-applied product that eliminates dye migration when applied to sublimation prone garments/colors. It applies to 100% cotton, 100% polyester, poly/cotton blends, Lycra®/spandex, woven and knit nylons, mesh and fleece.
Solutions™ Vintage Puff™ - Vintage Puff™ is a heat-applied product that puffs to create a three dimensional appearance. It resists cracking and features a very soft hand. It applies to 100% cotton, 100% polyester, poly/cotton blends, Lycra®/spandex, woven and knit nylons, mesh and fleece.
Sport Stitch - Twill letters and numbers with pre-sewn edges and a thermal adhesive backing. This product eliminates the need to use your sewing machine.
Storage Boxes – Corrugated cardboard storage box with divided plastic inserts, ideal for keeping letters and numbers organized. Available in various sizes with 32, 12 or 6 sections.
Strikethrough – The migration of ink or dyes from the fabric of the garment coming through the lettering or graphic being applied.
Tape Dispenser – Slip resistant, with rubber base to provide sturdiness while using thermo-tape. Double core for use with 1" or 3" tape.
Team Perfect™ - A pre-spaced team name with a pre-positioned graphic/number on a carrier, ready to be heat applied on a uniform or jersey.
Teflon® Pillows – Prevent marks on transfers and lettering with foam core Teflon® covered pillows. Use with V-necks, near heavy seams, zippers or buttons and as inserts for mesh jerseys. Available in five sizes: 16" x 20" for oversized shirts such as Hockey or Football jerseys, 12" x 14" for adult size shirts, 10" x 10" for youth shirts, 6" x 8" for shorts and shoulders, 5" x 18" for sleeves and legs.
Teflon® Sheet – Our most popular cover sheet leaves a screen print finish on Thermo-FILM®, Thermo-GRIP® and Vinyl. Durable and reusable.
Teflon® Yardage – Sold by the yard, this is useful for covering platens or cutting special size sheets.
Temperature – The number of degrees (heat) that is needed to adequately melt the adhesive of the CAD material to the garment in order to form a permanent bond.
Thermo-FILM® - A tough, durable, yet lightweight film that is an alternative to screen printing on many fabrics. No sewing necessary.
Thermo-FLOCK® - Raised, rayon fibers with a soft, velvet-like texture - a popular look for soccer and inexpensive alternative to suede. No sewing necessary.
Thermo-GRIP® - Similar to Thermo-FILM®, but its special adhesive allows for application on nylon knits and meshes. No sewing necessary.
Thermo-Tape – Heat resistant blue tape holds lettering in place before and during heat printing.
Time – The duration of the heat application process in terms of seconds required to heat press.
Tweezers – Oversized tweezers easily pluck away excess material from CAD-CUT®, CAD-COLOR ® and pressure sensitive vinyl graphics
Vinyl - A thick lettering material dense enough to cover the holes in mesh fabric. Used primarily for Porthole mesh jerseys. No sewing necessary.
Weeding –The process of manually removing the excess material from around the cut design upon completion of the cutting process.
